I read a quote in this book that simply resonated with me and, I felt described the deeper meaning of every other word that was written on these pages:
“The mind is its own place, and in itself
can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven”
I loved this book, and the reason it’s only getting 4 stars is because I strongly believe the other two novels in this trilogy will be even better.
The first half of the text reads much like a contemporary, due to the road trip aspect (which I loved so much). I found majority of the story to be quite realistic, despite the fact that it’s paranormal based.
The characters were very enjoyable to read about, which I find other paranormal books can sometimes lack in unfortunately. I’m not usually one to fall so easily for the ‘bad boy’, but my gosh did I love Kaidan Rowe! *swoon*
I was really impressed with the originality of the story, and the various things Wendy Higgins brought to this novel, whether that be the complexity behind the world/culture or simply the seven deadly sins take.
I cannot wait to see what the rest of this trilogy has to offer, and what the heck is going to happen between Kaidan and Anna!
