A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness: Book Review

Rating: 4/5

Read: ? August, 2017

Wow, what a powerful, amazing, wonderful book.

I will admit, although I was definitely hooked right from the start, I was a little confused about where the story was going. But once I realised, I was totally into it.

The characters were fantastic, which I think I must give props to the reader of the audiobook. I honestly don’t think it would’ve been the same if I didn’t read the audiobook, it was brilliantly read!

Connor was such a real character, with raw emotions that really showed. I could feel what he was feeling.

There were soooo many different emotions that this book both entailed, and evoked.

It was a powerful story showing how anger, sadness, grief, bullying and heartache is dealt with, and how different people can react in various ways.

I wish I had more to say, but just read this. And if you can, listen to the audiobook, that really added to the experience in my opinion.

I would definitely recommend going into this book without knowing anything, like I did.
